Systems Apart

Systems apart looks at our disassociation from the natural world. On a conscious level we often see our selves as separated from the worlds systems but on a deeper level as animals we have never been separated, we are just as reliant on the complex, linked, systems of life as we ever have been. To counter this disassociation I am basing my work on ancient traditions of imagination and story telling; communities in hyper urban environments have been asked to build a narrative about an area of curated nature that people pass on a regular basis but don't engage with. These imaginings interrupt peoples days and get them to spend time thinking about the processes of nature that exist around them. The collection of imaginings where turned into an over arching narrative that was presented back to the community in the form of a puppet show, an responsive process with deep cultural roots.
